This past weekend Google rolled out their “Google Panda” refresh. What does this mean?
So, the new Panda Update is a bit different than last time.
1) It will not affect sites immediately.
2) Sites that made the correct changes to their websites may actually have a chance to “make a come back.”
3) This update will affect 2-3% of queries.
So, this update is again a refresh that will implement and penalize sites that didn’t do anything after the last update or sites that have been ignoring Google’s warnings. A lot of SEO experts say they haven’t really seen evidence that Panda has impacted many sites yet. Algorithms were created in the past to stop spam sites but some how it’s also destroying small businesses out there. Sites that were heavily penalized from the last Panda update are waiting almost a year in between these updates to recover – if they ever do? This slow moving Panda will continue for months and I hope that sites that have fixed issues and haven’t seen a come back get a chance to Recover from that last update.
A Re-Cap On the Panda Update 10 Months AGO:
The FOUR Major Reasons why Google Penalized you last year?
1) Duplicate Content.
2) Spammy Links.
3) Over Optimization.
4) Sites that we’re NOT participating in directories and social media. It’s extremely important now to be in multiple Directories like Manta, BBB, Yahoo Local etc. as well as being in Social Media like Facebook, Twitter, and Google Plus. We still haven’t seen that posting changes anything when it comes to Ranking but having your address, phone number, and website link is essential every where you can have them. And we still don’t really know what the future will be with Social Media and SEO.
Our Thoughts On the Future:
Google is really focusing on Linking Google Business pages with sites and establishing a trust between the two. It’s also becoming more and more important that addresses and phone numbers and business names match 100% across the board. We’ve been focusing extremely on this because it’s one of the major components in Ranking. Google is still playing around with the Maps/Local Business Section. We’re seeing a usual standard “7 Pack” in the majority of areas. People are focusing on “How do I get into the 7 Pack?” Unfortunately, no one knows for sure because this is still developing. What we do know is that getting businesses in as many Directories as possible plays a major roll in this, Clients focusing on getting Google Reviews is important, and ensuring your Google Page is set up correctly. We are seeing some pages doing everything right and having Reviews but not ranking and that’s very frustrating. That’s one of our hopes in these upcoming months that Google will focus on getting out those small bugs that plagues the Business Pages.
So far, we have not seen any major impacts on our own SEO Clients Sites. We are watching everything closely but we have been doing everything correctly so we’re hoping that this new update will only help our SEO Clients. So, don’t fear this new update I believe it will only help you.
